Meet the people changing our food system and taste the flavors of summer in the mountains, one bite at a time.
Eating local is about more than just food. It’s about the relationship with the farmer, the connection to place and heritage, and the sense of community that comes from knowing the story behind your food. It’s about experiencing something fresh, seasonal, and grown here. On August 18, 5:30-8:30, savor the food traditions of our Southern Appalachian Mountains, and meet your farms, artisans, and businesses working together to localize our food system.
Attendees will enjoy a sampling of local food tastings, small dishes, and seasonal fare served by Appalachian Grown farms and partners including Looking Glass Creamery, Sunburst Trout Farms, Imladris Farm, Green River Picklers, Dan Silo og Buxton Hall Barbecue, Waynesville Soda Jerks, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, Ultimate Ice Cream, French Broad Chocolates, HomeGrown, and more! Tickets are $20 per person; with $10 reduced price tickets available for children 12 and under at the door. Purchase your tickets online by clicking on this link. Tickets are good for food and non-alcoholic beverages; Highland beer will be sold separately. We recommended purchasing your tickets in advance, as there may be a limited number of tickets available at the door. All ticket proceeds benefit ASAP.
