Screening #2 of "School's Out: Lessons from a Forest Kindergarten" @ Lenoir-Rhyne Center for Graduate Studies, Second Floor Boardroom | Asheville | North Carolina | United States

We’re offering a second screening of this award-winning documentary about forest kindergarten in Switzerland. The film is surprisingly engaging, entertaining and informative, and addresses many questions and concerns that parents and educators may have about this “new” and alternative education model.

We will also be briefly discussing our new school, Asheville Forest School–a new nature-based school for ages 3 1/2 – 6 that is based on the Waldkindergarten (“forest kindergarten” in German) concept shown in the film. While mainstream American preschools are increasingly focused on academics, technology and staying indoors, we will be taking children out into the woods every day, whatever the weather, and encourage free play and interest-directed learning in the ultimate classroom, Mother Nature.

We’ll be in the Lenoir-Rhyne University boardroom on the second floor, in the same building as the Asheville Visitor Center.
