Appalachian Folk Tales @ Wild Mountain Bees | Weaverville | North Carolina | United States

We are excited to bring you an evening of storytelling with Dr. Delanna Reed! Dr. Reed, a member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild, is a professor with the Department of Communication and Performance at East Tennessee State University.

Join us as we bring folk tales of southern Appalachia to life through spoken word, weaving in stories of the Vance family. David Vance Sr. and his wife Priscilla Brank settled in the Reems Creek Valley in the 1790s. Their plantation eventually totaled almost 900 acres including 18 enslaved people. These stories celebrate the traditions and cultures of the people who called the North Carolina mountains home in the early 1800s.

This program is FREE and will be held at the Vance Birthplace! Seating is first-come first-served. Enjoy light refreshments from 6:30-7:00 and then an hour of storytelling with Dr. Reed from 7:00-8:00.
