Arm Me With Rally @ Pack Square Park | Asheville | North Carolina | United States

As educators, we have been blown away by the amazing efforts and accomplishments of our students in standing up for what they know is right. Both the March for our Lives event and the planning that went into the 17 minutes of silence on March 14th were extremely powerful, and made us see how serious these young people are about creating real change.

On April 20th, the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting, American students will walk out of school and protest. The #NationalSchoolWalkout is a nationwide protest of our leaders’ failure to pass laws that protect our schools and communities from gun violence. Together, students hope to send a message that there will be no more tolerance on inaction of this issue.

To show our support for students here in WNC, and across the country, ACAE is planning a rally on April 20th at 6pm. We hope to see educators, students, and anyone else in the community who support our students on this issue.

During this event, we will hear from state and local politicians about what their plans are to help protect our schools and communities against gun violence. We will hear from students and teachers as well, and we will make sure that everyone who is eligible is registered to vote.

Current Speakers:
NCAE Members
Asheville City Teachers
Senator Terry Van Duyn
NC House Rep. John Ager
Students from Asheville City, Buncombe Co., and Polk Co.

Primary elections in NC will be held on May 8th, 2018. This rally is our chance to gather together one last time before the primaries to make sure that we can take our passion to the polls and #VoteThemOut

We hope to see you there!
